Challenge 2: Pet Project- The Runway

Challenge 2: Runway

Well, this was harder than I expected. I have a new respect for the PR contestants on these challenges. The fabric I chose for my bodice was from an industrial grade dog toy. I swear that's the only way I can describe it. It was a heavy weave on the front, with thick plastic behind. Great for Fido, not so great for making tiny, detailed couture. The skirt was made from a plastic fishtank plant, cut up and sewed onto a muslin underskirt. By the time I got to the belt/sash/glittery cat collar, I had broken enough sewing needles to break out the glue gun.

I would pair the cocktail dress with these nice black suede and patent-leather wedges:

I thought about pairing the dress with some leopard-print pumps, but I thought that Michael would call me out on a 'taste issue.'

Heidi: I like the idea behind this dress. She could go out to a cocktail party right now.
Michael: I see where you were going with this, but it's a little sloppy.
Nina: I will be honest with you, the construction is not great on this. But, it's a decent little cocktail dress. Good job.

  1. Oh I did't even try sewing that plastic aquarium stuff, it was crazy to work with! I love your outfit.
